Ains is a 3-star Earth Warrior built around single-target retaliation and lockdown. His basic attack hits one enemy and has a 50% chance to swing for a guaranteed critical hit, his passive lets him counterattack when he is struck, and his cooldown skill punches a single target with a chance to stun them for one turn. He is a slow, sticky bruiser who punishes attackers rather than initiating, with only one enemy threatened at a time.

Counters

  • Attackers who keep hitting him — His passive counterattacks when he is struck, so multi-hit aggressors and anyone forced to focus him eat extra unplanned damage every time they swing.
  • Single fragile targets he can crit and stun — His guaranteed-crit chance on the basic attack plus his cooldown stun can pin down and burst one key enemy, taking them out of the turn order for a full turn.
  • Enemies relying on uninterrupted setup — Landing the one-turn stun denies a target their turn, disrupting any unit that needs to act on schedule to ramp buffs, cast a big skill, or take its window.

Countered by

  • Heroes that ignore or punish counterattacks — Effects that prevent his counterattack from triggering shut off his main source of retaliatory damage, leaving him a slow low-output bruiser.
  • Cleansers — His only crowd control is a single stun on a 4-turn cooldown; a teammate cleansing it instantly frees the target and there is no follow-up control for several turns.
  • Immunity — Immunity buffs block the stun outright, so his cooldown skill becomes plain single-target damage with no lockdown value.
  • Wide-damage and multi-target compositions — He only ever attacks or threatens one enemy at a time, so teams that spread or cleave can pressure his whole side faster than he can answer single targets.
