Talaz is a 3-star Ice Warrior built around single-target provoke and counterattacking. His basic attack can lock one enemy with a one-turn provoke, and his finisher, Soulful Strike, deals heavy single-target damage that hits even harder when the target is provoked. His passive lets him counterattack when struck, and once his Fighting Spirit fills after a basic skill he spends it to push his own Combat Readiness by 100% and instantly reset Soulful Strike's cooldown, letting him chain his big hit much faster. He also carries some defensive upkeep to stay alive while baiting attacks.

Counters

  • A single dangerous attacker he can taunt — His basic attack can provoke one enemy for a turn, forcing that target to attack him instead of striking the ally it wants. This shuts down a key single-threat carry while leaving Talaz, a counterattacker, ready to punish the redirected hit.
  • Anyone who keeps swinging at him — His passive gives a chance to counterattack whenever he is attacked, so aggressive bruisers and multi-hit attackers feed him free retaliation damage instead of pressuring him cleanly.
  • Targets he has already provoked — Soulful Strike deals bonus damage against an enemy under provoke (or redirected provoke), so once he sticks the taunt his finisher hits much harder — turning his own control into amplified burst on that target.
  • Slower or recovery-reliant single targets — By filling Fighting Spirit he self-pushes his Combat Readiness and resets Soulful Strike, letting him land his heavy hit again sooner and out-tempo a lone enemy that needs setup or downtime between turns.

Countered by

  • Cleanse and immunity — His whole damage plan leans on provoke being active for the Soulful Strike bonus and to redirect attacks. Allies that cleanse the taunt or grant immunity strip his control, leaving his finisher as ordinary single-target damage.
  • Counterattack denial — His sustained value comes from his counterattacks. Heroes that suppress counterattacks turn off his passive damage entirely, reducing him to just his slow basic-and-finisher rotation.
  • Buff removal and shortening — He relies on his own defensive buffs to survive while baiting hits. Dispel, buff stealing, and buff-duration reduction peel away that defense and tempo, leaving him fragile for a 3-star Warrior.
  • Wide damage and being ignored — He is strictly single-target with no team control, and starts slow, so AoE comps or teams that simply burst around his one taunted target overwhelm him before he can chain his finisher.
