Mercedes is a 4-star Fire Mage built around hitting the whole enemy team. Her basic attack strikes two enemies and pushes her own turn forward by 15%, her second skill blasts all enemies and has a chance to strip one buff from each (and casts a second time for free whenever she's holding an Attack buff), and her third skill hits all enemies and grants herself increased Attack for 2 turns. That self Attack buff is the engine of her kit: it powers up her damage and unlocks the bonus follow-up on her area attack. (The Volatility and Immense Power states in her text are story-mode only and do not apply to normal play.)

Counters

  • Teams that lean on protective buffs — Her area attack has a chance to dispel a buff from every enemy, so shields, immunity, and other defensive buffs across the whole roster can be peeled off rather than fought through.
  • Buff-stacking and buff-reliant comps — Because she strips buffs from the entire team at once, enemies who pile on or depend on Attack, defense, or speed buffs lose the advantages their strategy is built on.
  • Multiple grouped threats at once — Both her second and third skills hit all enemies, letting her chip or finish several targets in one turn instead of trading blows one-on-one.
  • Slower setups she can race — Her basic attack pushes her own turn forward by 15%, and her self Attack buff gives a free repeat of her area attack, letting her get rolling and apply pressure faster than her base speed suggests.

Countered by

  • Enemies that steal or shorten buffs — Her whole rhythm depends on holding her self Attack buff to trigger the free re-cast; a hero who steals that buff or cuts its duration shuts off her bonus attack and weakens her damage.
  • Enemies that dispel her — Strip the Attack buff she grants herself and she loses both the damage boost and the extra area attack, leaving her with just her on-cooldown hits.
  • Cooldown windows — Her area attacks sit on 3- and 4-turn cooldowns, so after she fires them she has only her two-target basic attack, giving fast or bursty foes a window to punish her.
  • Tanky single targets and survivability tricks — Her dispel is only a chance and her damage is spread across everyone, so a single durable threat or one that survives through revives or invincibility can outlast her spread-out pressure.
