Crescent Moon Rin is a 4-star Dark Thief built around single-target control and buff manipulation, not raw damage. Her basic attack stuns for a turn 40% of the time, her second skill steals two of the target's buffs and hands those effects to her whole team before stunning the target (and refreshes faster if the target had no buffs to take), and her third skill rips away every buff on a foe and then grants her allies extra Critical Hit Damage. She is very fast, so she typically opens the fight, locking down and stripping one key enemy while turning that enemy's protection into an advantage for her side.

Counters

  • Enemies leaning on big buffs — Her second skill steals two buffs off the target and her third skill dispels all of the target's buffs, so anyone stacking attack, defense, immunity or other boosts gets those advantages erased or even handed to her own team.
  • Untouchable defensive walls — Because she can dispel every buff on a single target, she peels off invincibility, barriers and similar damage-blocking effects, opening up a foe that would otherwise be impossible to hurt.
  • Setup and combo openers — As a very fast unit her basic attack has a 40% stun and her second skill always stuns for a turn, so she can deny an enemy its opening move and freeze a key threat while her allies act.
  • Crit-reliant allied carries — Her third skill increases her whole team's Critical Hit Damage for two turns, and her buff-steal feeds stolen effects to everyone, so she amplifies her own damage dealers right as she controls the enemy.

Countered by

  • Effect immunity going first — If a target acts before her or is shielded by immunity, her stuns simply fail to land, neutralizing her main job of locking that enemy down.
  • Ally cleanse and buff-duration cuts — Cleansing removes the stuns she applies, and shortening buff durations strips away the stolen buffs and Crit Damage she spreads to her team, undoing her support contribution.
  • Long cooldowns between her big plays — Her buff-steal is on a three-turn cooldown and her dispel on a five-turn cooldown, so once she has used them she is left with only a basic attack and can be punished while she waits to come back online.
  • Buff-free or self-dispelling targets — She is single-target and her strip and steal do far less against an enemy with no buffs to take; her steal even acknowledges this by refunding cooldown, but she still loses the value of converting enemy buffs into team-wide gains.
