Gloomyrain is a Light Mage built to thrive while debuffed. Her first skill, Wail, is a single-target attack with a chance to grant her an extra turn. Her passive, Ill Will, raises her Attack and Speed whenever she is carrying a debuff and makes her immune to stun, sleep, and provoke. Her cooldown-4 skill, Soul Destruction, hits all enemies with magic, has a chance to fling all the debuffs on her onto the enemies, and then cleanses every debuff off herself.

Counters

  • Debuff-stacking and damage-over-time teams — Her passive turns being debuffed into a buff, raising her Attack and Speed, and Soul Destruction can hurl those same debuffs back onto the whole enemy team before wiping them off her. Poison, burn, and stack-piling enemies feed her instead of crippling her.
  • Lockdown and control attackers — Ill Will makes her flatly immune to stun, sleep, and provoke, so enemies who win by pinning a target down with hard crowd control cannot stop her turns.
  • Defense-shredders and accuracy-based debuffers — Since landing debuffs on her speeds her up and arms her debuff transfer, openers who try to strip her defense or pile on effects are handing her ammunition rather than disabling her.
  • Greedy single targets and turn-cyclers — Wail's chance at an extra turn after attacking lets her chain actions and apply pressure faster than a strict turn order would allow, punishing slower setup enemies.

Countered by

  • Enemy cleansers — Her threat onto the enemy team comes from transferring debuffs via Soul Destruction; a teammate that cleanses those off the enemies immediately undoes her offensive payload.
  • Immunity setters — If the enemy is shielded by immunity, the debuffs she tries to transfer never stick, neutering the dangerous part of her cooldown-4 skill.
  • Teams with no debuffs to feed her — Her Attack and Speed boost and her transfer plan both depend on her actually being debuffed; against opponents who apply nothing, her passive stays dormant and Soul Destruction has nothing to throw back.
  • Burst before her long cooldown comes up — Her signature transfer-and-cleanse lives on a four-turn cooldown, and as a 3-star Mage her bulk is thin, so a fast team can blow her up in the windows when Soul Destruction is unavailable.
