Ludwig is a fast Earth mage built around tempo, buff disruption, and burst. His first skill is a single-target magic hit that can steal one of the enemy's buffs, and it pushes his own Combat Readiness by 15% whenever he is holding a buff. His single-target second skill strips a turn off the target's buffs, can stun for 1 turn while ignoring Effect Resistance, and rewards him with 1 turn of invincibility plus a 50% Combat Readiness jump that lets him act again almost immediately. His ultimate is his only true area attack, hitting all enemies with magic that penetrates 30% of their Defense, an extra 15% while he is invincible, and extending his own buff durations whenever a kill lands.

Counters

  • Buff-stacking teams that pile on Attack and crit — He shaves a full turn off enemy buffs on his second skill and can steal a buff outright with his first skill, so opponents who win by stacking offensive buffs lose their advantage before it pays off.
  • Slow or setup-reliant compositions — As a fast opener he strikes early, and his self Combat Readiness gains of 15% when buffed and 50% after his second skill let him take repeated turns before slow teams can establish their plan.
  • High-Defense and damage-mitigating bruisers — His ultimate penetrates 30% of the target's Defense, rising to 45% while he is invincible, so tanky frontliners that rely on raw Defense do not survive his burst as well as they should.
  • Sturdy targets that lean on shields or stalling to wait him out — His second skill has a chance to stun for a turn, locking down a key enemy and breaking the tempo of teams that try to outlast his damage behind protection.

Countered by

  • Cleanse and immunity supports — His threat is built on the stun and buff-loss from his second skill; a teammate cleansing the stun or pre-applying immunity removes his control entirely, and his ultimate has no debuff to fall back on.
  • Enemies who turn his own tricks back on him — He leans on holding a buff for his Combat Readiness gain and on staying invincible for extra penetration, so opponents who steal his buffs or shorten his buff durations strip both his tempo engine and his bonus damage.
  • Out-speeding bursty openers — He is fragile as a mage and his invincibility and Combat Readiness only trigger after he acts, so a faster opener can knock him out or lock him down before his second skill ever lands.
  • Single-target pressure between cooldowns — His control and his only area attack sit on 4 and 5 turn cooldowns, so once just his first skill is up he offers little but a basic single-target hit, leaving a window to focus him down.
