Adlay is a 3-star Earth Mage built around control and disruption rather than raw damage. His basic Mana Release hits one enemy with a chance to stun for a turn, while his ultimate Mana Seal strikes the whole enemy team, ignores effect resistance, can dispel a buff, and has a chance to push enemy skill cooldowns back by one turn (on a 4-turn cooldown). His passive, Heroism, charges his own turn meter every time an ally other than himself is attacked, letting him cycle back to his control tools faster.

Counters

  • Teams that lean on protective buffs — Mana Seal can strip a buff off the enemy team and ignores effect resistance, so shields, invincibility, and cannot-die buffs that other heroes can't punch through get peeled away before they matter.
  • Enemies relying on a key cooldown — Mana Seal can add a turn to enemy skill cooldowns, delaying a healer's revive, a bruiser's defensive skill, or a damage dealer's nuke right when they need it.
  • Single dangerous threats he can lock down — Mana Release has a chance to stun for a turn, stalling one priority target's actions while his team capitalizes.
  • Slower control battles — Heroism feeds him combat readiness whenever an ally is hit, so the more the enemy attacks his teammates the faster he loops back to dispel, stun, and push cooldowns again.

Countered by

  • Debuff immunity — His stun and any debuff hinge on actually landing; an enemy under immunity simply ignores his stun, and even though Mana Seal pierces effect resistance, immunity still blocks the debuff portion.
  • Cleanse support — A teammate who removes debuffs can wipe his stun right off the locked target, undoing his control before it pays off.
  • His own ultimate's long downtime — Mana Seal sits on a 4-turn cooldown, so once he spends his dispel and cooldown-push he has only a single-target stun chance to fall back on until it recharges.
  • Burst before he can act — As a fragile 3-star Mage with no self-protection, a fast cleaver or assassin can kill him outright before his control and disruption ever come online.
