Brieg is a 5-star Ice Knight who fights as a bulky single-target sword duelist whose damage scales off his own max Health rather than Attack. His basic strike pushes his own Combat Readiness and, once his Fighting Spirit gauge fills, automatically cleanses every debuff off himself and unleashes a follow-up attack against the enemy with the highest Attack. That follow-up strips all buffs from its target before landing a 2-turn Defense and Speed reduction with a built-in 50% Effectiveness bonus, while his second skill shields the whole team with an HP-based barrier and grants himself perception. He is purely single-target, picking off one priority threat at a time rather than hitting the whole enemy line.

Counters

  • Buff-stacking carries and shielded units — His follow-up attack dispels every buff off its target before dealing damage, so enemies who pile on attack, crit, or barrier buffs to snowball get stripped bare right as he hits them, and he tears through the protective buffs other supports keep up.
  • High-Attack damage dealers — When his Fighting Spirit is full the follow-up seeks out the enemy with the highest Attack, then drops their Defense and Speed for 2 turns, handing his team an easier kill on the opposing carry and slowing it in the speed race.
  • Debuff and crowd-control teams — His basic attack cleanses all debuffs off himself the moment Fighting Spirit fills, so damage-over-time, slows, and stuns wear off on his own turns, letting him keep duelling through what would lock down a normal bruiser.
  • Burst and first-strike comps — He pushes his own Combat Readiness on his basic attack and can chain into an immediate extra turn, clawing back tempo against openers, while his HP-scaling team barrier blunts their alpha strike.

Countered by

  • Immunity up before he strikes — His whole payoff is the Defense and Speed reduction on the follow-up; if a target sits under Immunity when he lands the hit, those debuffs are blocked outright and he is left with only damage and a wasted strip.
  • Enemy dispel and cleanse — His value leans on the team barrier he grants and the Defense and Speed down he applies; opposing dispel wipes the barrier, and enemy cleanse removes the Speed and Defense reduction he just set up, undoing his control.
  • Fighting Spirit gating — His signature follow-up, self-cleanse, and buff-strip only fire once Fighting Spirit is full; before the gauge charges he is just a single-target attacker with no strip and no self-cleanse, so early pressure catches him without his best tools.
  • Wide spread and racing past the duel — Every offensive skill is single-target, so he can only neutralize one enemy per turn; teams that win through several threats at once, or that ignore his locked-down target and race the rest of his team, sidestep what he shuts down.
