ae-KARINA is a 5-star Ice Knight defensive support whose damage and shielding both scale off her own high Defense. Her basic punch and her cooldown fist-slam each hit a single enemy, apply Defense Down, and the slam adds Defense-scaling splash damage to all foes. Her signature passive is reactive: when an ally is dropped to 50% HP or less by an attack, she gains Combat Readiness for an extra turn and grants a Defense-scaling barrier to the whole team plus Defense Up on herself for 2 turns, on a 3-turn cooldown. In short, she is a Defense-breaking bruiser and an emergency team protector rather than a wide cleaver.

Counters

  • Squishy single targets she can break down — Both her punch and her fist slam stick Defense Down on the enemy she hits, and her damage scales off her own high Defense. That lets her chip and soften a priority target while pairing with a follow-up attacker who exploits the lowered Defense.
  • Burst-focused enemy teams that try to drop one ally fast — Her passive reacts the moment a teammate is taken to 50% HP or less by an attack, giving her a Combat Readiness boost and immediately shielding the whole team with a Defense-scaling barrier while raising her own Defense. Against opponents who try to delete one hero, that reactive barrier blunts the spike and buys the turn back.
  • Sustained-damage teams trying to grind allies down — As a Defense-stacking Knight she fronts a wall of Defense Up on herself plus repeated team barriers, soaking attrition. Slower damage that relies on whittling allies down struggles to push through the layered shielding she keeps refreshing.

Countered by

  • Buff strippers and buff stealers — Her entire protective value lives in the barrier and Defense Up her passive grants. An enemy that dispels or steals those buffs erases the shield and her Defense boost outright, leaving the team exposed.
  • Buff-duration shorteners — Her barrier and Defense Up only last 2 turns. Shaving turns off those buffs collapses her protection a turn early, before the next passive trigger can come back off its 3-turn lock.
  • Effect immunity on the enemy side — Her offense is built on landing Defense Down with her punch and slam to set up follow-up damage. An enemy under immunity simply refuses the Defense Down, neutering both her solo threat and the setup she provides.
  • Patient teams that avoid tripping her reactive shield — The barrier only fires when an ally is dropped to 50% HP or less by an attack, and only once every 3 turns. Opponents who spread damage or pace their hits can keep her passive dormant or burn it once and then strike while it is on cooldown.
