Martial Artist Ken is a 5-star Dark Warrior built around guaranteed-critical counterattacks. His single-target Knockout is a flurry that always crits and can provoke the target for one turn. His passive grants him a sturdiness buff at the start of battle and triggers a Dragon Flame counter kick whenever an ally takes a critical hit or whenever Ken himself is critically hit; that counter ignores 50% of the target's Defense, always crits, and hits harder the more health Ken has lost. His only true team-wide tool is The Coming of Asura, a five-turn-cooldown ground pound that strikes all enemies, always crits, and can lower their Defense for two turns.

Counters

  • Crit-reliant attackers and burst dealers — Every time he or an ally takes a critical hit, Ken fires a guaranteed-crit Dragon Flame counter that ignores half the target's Defense, so teams that lean on hard-hitting critical strikes feed his retaliation and get punished on their own offense.
  • Bulky, high-Defense frontliners — His counter penetrates 50% of the target's Defense and his AoE can further lower enemy Defense for two turns, letting his guaranteed crits chew through tanks that would normally shrug off other attackers.
  • Single key threats he can lock down — Knockout always crits and can provoke a chosen enemy for a turn, forcing that target to attack Ken instead of acting freely, which neutralizes a dangerous attacker or caster for a beat while he counters off it.
  • Slow grind and attrition fights — His Dragon Flame damage grows as his own health drops and he opens with a sturdiness buff, so the longer and bloodier the fight, the more dangerous his counters become rather than fading out.

  • Counterattack denial — Effects that stop heroes from counterattacking shut off Dragon Flame entirely, removing the bulk of his damage since most of his offense comes from retaliating rather than acting on his own turn.
  • Buff removal and theft — His opening sturdiness buff and any attack boost can be stripped or stolen, and shortening or erasing his buffs leaves him fragile while waiting to counter.
  • Non-critical and avoided damage — His ally-defense counter only triggers off critical hits, so opponents who attack without critting, or who simply evade and dodge, can damage his team without ever setting off Dragon Flame.
  • Cleanse and immunity against his control — His provoke and Defense-down rely on debuffs landing; cleansing them or pre-applying immunity removes his only crowd control and his AoE Defense break, blunting both his lockdown and his Defense-shredding.
