Ran

Ran is a 5-star Ice Thief built around raw Speed: the faster she is, the harder she hits, since both her single-target Tempest (which also ignores 20% of the target's Defense) and her area-of-effect ultimate Instant Blade scale damage off her Speed. Instant Blade hits the whole enemy team, strips two buffs from each target, and ignores their Effect Resistance to land a chance at Freeze and a CR-gain block for 2 turns, locking enemies in place. On a 5-turn cooldown she casts Mental Focus, which shields the whole team with Immunity for 2 turns, hands herself an attack boost and a one-time debuff-block, and grants her an extra turn so she can immediately follow up with a hit.

Counters

• Buff-stacking and shield-reliant teams — Her ultimate dispels two buffs from every enemy before it deals damage, tearing down attack and defense buffs, barriers, and other protective effects that the enemy team leaned on.
• Turn-cycle and fast-mover comps — With very high Speed and a Freeze plus combat-readiness-gain block on her ultimate, she can both deny enemies their turn entirely and stop them from charging back up to act.
• High-defense and debuff-immunity targets — Tempest carves through 20% of a target's Defense, and Instant Blade ignores Effect Resistance, so tanky or resist-stacked enemies still take the freeze and the CR block.
• Debuff-spam and opener-style enemies — Mental Focus blankets the whole team in Immunity for two turns, so an opposing first-turn debuffer or stun setter wastes their opening salvo against her allies.

• Cleanse and immunity supports — Her control hinges on the Freeze and CR block from Instant Blade landing; an enemy cleanser wipes those off and a team-wide immunity granter blocks them from sticking at all.
• Buff stripping against her own team — Mental Focus protects allies with Immunity buffs and gives herself an attack boost, but enemy dispels or buff-steal can pull those off, leaving her team exposed.
• Long ultimate cooldown — Both her control ultimate and her team-protection skill sit on a 5-turn cooldown, so once she fires Instant Blade she has a long gap before she can dispel and Freeze again.
• Surviving the first hit, then outpacing her — Outside her ultimate she falls back on single-target Tempest, so a tankier or faster enemy that weathers the opening burst can act before her cooldowns come back.
